The pivot & the prototype
I've been wanting to update you guys for a while, but have been torn about how to do that, since there are changes afoot here at Beyond Laundry, and we're not quite ready to do a total reveal of what those are yet. But I do want to let you know that a) we're moving in a slightly different direction now, and b) things really are MOVING! (And that's not only metaphorical but also a hint about how our business model is shifting.)
We're still here, and we're in it for the long haul.
These past few months have been a time of intense learning for us, and as CEO, I've been especially immersed in educating myself about alllll kinds of things, as different opportunities have come up. One of the things I've learned about is the importance in business of having the ability to pivot when it's called for. As we moved forward in trying to get our community laundry center up and running, certain (amazing!) doors opened and other ones showed no sign of budging anytime in the near future, so we went through the ones that were open, and in doing so, were inspired with new ideas and possibilities.
I'm being too cryptic, I know, and I apologize. To put things more plainly, we're veering slightly from the focus of opening a community laundry center in Taos for now. We still fully intend to do that eventually, but when we do, it will look somewhat different than we had originally envisioned.
In the meantime, we've been working to develop the system that will be at the core of Beyond Laundry facilities - the integration of water recycling and solar power. Along the way, we came up with a pretty awesome idea about how to create and test a prototype at a fraction of the costs we had initially projected.
And that's all I can say about it for now, but we'll be unveiling our plan in the coming months. Stay tuned.
